Understanding Sex and Gender DiversityDiscussion Group Families For Professionals Special Events
So you’re probably familiar with the acronym LGBTQI – but do the ins-and-outs get you in a bit of a muddle?
We know that the alphabet soup of our community can sometimes be confusing and complicated from the outside, and that you might want to be supportive but feel like you don’t know where to start. We understand that not knowing who to ask questions to, or even how to ask questions, can make you feel like a bad ally. If this sounds familiar, then we’ve got the session for you!
The Understanding Sex and Gender Diversity workshops are for every day people who want to better understand and support their LGBTQI peers and loved ones. We’ll provide a judgement-free, welcoming environment where you can ask the questions that you might feel too awkward or embarrassed to ask elsewhere, so that you can be a better ally at home, work and everyday life!
We will be covering:
- The acronym – what do the letters actually mean?
- What is the difference between sex, sexuality and gender identity/expression?
- How and why do some people transition genders?
- What does intersex mean? (the I in LGBTQI!)
- What do trans, gender diverse and intersex people want you to know about them?
Come along with an open mind and open heart, and get a better grasp on sex and gender diversity.
Each session is a once-off (but you’re welcome to come back for a refresher!) If you can’t make this session, check out the other dates below.
