This Sunday 26th October is International Intersex Awareness Day.
Last year AGA hosted an event at the Canberra Museum and Gallery to mark this very important awareness raising Day.
We strongly encourage raising awareness around these issues not just this day but every day of the year.
*Intersex Awareness Day is observed on October 26, 2014. Intersex Awareness Day (also spelled as Inter Sex Awareness Day or abbreviated as IAD) is an internationally observed civil awareness day designed to highlight the challenges faced by intersex individuals. IAD is an international day of grass-roots action to end shame, secrecy and unwanted genital cosmetic surgeries on intersex children.*
*Though AGA will not be hosting an event on IIAD this year, AGA will be hosting an event on Human Rights Day (Dec 10th) with guest speakers focussing on intersex issues.
